Menopause: Natural Medicine's Approach | Sault Naturopath

A Natural Approach to Menopause

24 Feb

Recently I presented a talk about menopause for a women’s group at the Garden River Health Centre, which is located just outside of Sault Ste. Marie, ON.  I’d like to share it with you. It is aimed at the general layperson. My hope was to provide a simple overview of natural medicine’s approach to menopause.

Please leave any questions or comments you may have about the presentation. What have you found effective to help make the transition through menopause a little easier?

Thank you for posting this! How do you feel about natural progesterone cream for hormone balance?

Glad you enjoyed the post. When needed, natural progesterone cream can be useful. However, typically I will first try therapies that will help bring the body back into balance on its own and stimulate the body to secrete more progesterone if levels are low. Often these will be herbs and homeopathics. I see that as first line treatment, along with nutrition. If that is not enough or a case is more severe then applying the progesterone cream may be indicated. So, generally I view it as more of a secondary treatment, if needed.
