Earth Hour
26 Mar
Earth Hour first took place in Sydney, Australia in 2007 when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned off their lights for one hour, as a symbolic stand against climate change. The following year the movement went global. Hundreds of millions of people took part last year, including over 4000 cities and 88 countries who simultaneously shut off their lights. Earth Hour is the world’s largest global climate change initiative.
It is a call
- to stand up,
- to take responsibility,
- to get involved and
- lead the way towards a sustainable future.
Basically, it’s a great way of saying, “I care about my planet!” Not only will you be expressing your desire for change, but you can also use it as an excuse to do something fun. There are so many things you can with the lights off …
Have you taken part in the past? Will you join the movement this year?
I encourage you to sign-up and get counted. Help spread the word. Let’s make Earth Hour 2010 the best one yet!
